We depart at 8am from your membership Golf Club and make our way East over the highveld towards the Kruger National Park. Making a pit stop along the way at the Alzu rest stop, we arrive in the small town of Malelane early afternoon.
After checking in at our hotel along the Crocodile River, we can relax at the lodge pool enjoying an ice cold drink. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 02: Morning Game Drive and Kambaku 9 Hole Round (Pestana Lodge) (B, D) (90km)
An early morning pre-dawn start for an open vehicle morning game drive in the Kruger National Park. The Southern Part of the Kruger Park is rich in African Wildlife and the Big 5 is frequently sighted. Traversing the Southern Kruger, we slowly enjoy game viewing our way back for a light lunch at our lodge before making our way to the small border town of Kommatiepoort to enjoy an afternoon 9 holes at the Kambaku Golf Club.
Day 03: Leopard Creek Golf Club (Pestana Lodge) (B, D)
The highlight of the Kruger is the world renown Leopard Creek Golf Club which proudly hosts the Sunshine Tour each year. The Par 72 and 6665m 18 hole golf course, designed by Gary Player in 1996 boasts the signature island green on the 18th as well as the 505m Par 5 13th making for a challenging yet memorable experience.
The day is spent enjoying Leopard Creek before arriving back at our lodge late afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 04: Kruger National Park (nKambeni) (B, D) (150km)
A full day open vehicle game drive in the Kruger National Park is on the menu for the day. An early start to catch the action while we make our way north from Malelane through the Park to Skukuza. A light lunch in Skukuza on own account before making our way to the Numbi gate. We arrive at our lodge late afternoon for an ice cold drink on the lodge deck overlooking the Kruger Park.
Day 05: Panorama Route (Highland Gate) (B, D) (280km)
The Panorama route takes us from the small town of Hazyview and via Graskop. The route includes the Gods Window, Bourkes Pot Holes and the Three Rondawels at the Blyde River Canyon.
Lunch on own account at one of the “padstals” near Ohrigstad or in the arty town of Dulstroom. Early afternoon arrival at Highland Gate just outside Dulstroom where we spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 06: Highland Gate Golf Club (Highland Gate) (B, D)
Designed by Ernie Else and built in 2010, the Par 72, 6750m course is set at high altitude of approximately 1500m above sea level. The course offers a combination of challenging fairways combined with spectacular scenery. Even Ernie Else said that golfers were torn between hitting the next shot or pausing to take a photo.
The rest of the day is spent at leisure. You can inquire about trout fishing or take the day off and enjoy the views from the Lodge.
Day 07: Johannesburg (B) (280km)
A relatively short drive back to Johannesburg begs for a late morning start. Arrival mid-day at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club where we bid our farewells.
